What if I disagree with my practitioner's recommendations?

Your care plan is a recommendation, not a mandate. You are always in control of your health decisions and are under no obligation to proceed with any treatment recommended by your practitioner.

If you have questions or concerns about a recommendation:

  • Discuss them during your consultation — your practitioner should explain the clinical reasoning behind any recommendation
  • Send a follow-up message through your patient portal
  • Request a follow-up consultation if you need more time to discuss

You may also wish to seek a second opinion from your GP or another specialist. We encourage you to make informed decisions about your health with support from all members of your healthcare team.
